GRANDMA'S REMEDY

My Grandmother invited my neighbor and me over for tea and cookies.  I could have told my neighbor, Janine, that whenever Gram invites someone over for tea and cookies, instead of just tea, she’s really inviting them over to introduce them to one of her home remedies.  Earlier, Janine came with me to Gram’s with her 6-month old.  Gram took one look at the baby’s scalp, which was really crusty and had been bleeding, and asked her what the doctor said about it.  Janine recounted the doctor’s instructions that she had been following for a month with little results.  Gram told her of a natural scalp treatment that she could get over the counter that works wonders.  She suggested she ask her doctor about it, if she had any doubts.  I was really surprised that Gram would suggest someone go to the store and buy a natural home remedy, instead of whipping one up herself.  She loves her home remedies, and I am sure she had one for scaly scalps.  I’ve seen her use her remedy on my baby brother.  When I later asked her about it, she said Janine would feel better buying the same thing that she could make – it’s the thing young folk do these days.
