ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY

We had our annual holiday party a few weeks ago, and the dilemma came up over whether or not to invite the  those on thetemp staffing.  I thought that it was a non issue.  We were not talking about employees of our company, after all, so I thought the answer was a big "no". But some of the team leaders had grown quite fond of some of the part timers.  Once again I had to bother Arnie and Clara with this.  I'll bet they are getting sick of seeing me in their offices.  Arnie was agreeable as usual, and Clara was not.  This time I sided with Clara though.  It's sending a wrong type of message to both our employees and to the part timers if we include them in what is normally a close knit type of function.  Arnie didn't see the big problem, saying that they knew they were not going to be coming on full time.  He thought it would be a nice gesture that might help productivity and make everybody feel good.  I said that it would probably make the regular employees a bit resentful and hurt their productivity, and also make them fearful for their jobs.  I told the same story to Clara, and she agreed on nearly every point.
